Narcissus.

Who can forget the Greek myth of Narcissus who found his own beauty so captivating that he fell in a pond and drowned while looking at his own reflection? You may find this happening to you when you wrap yourself in one of the many scarves inspired by the many color combinations of

the narcissus flower. Turmeric and Quebracho Red plant extracts have been used for these scarves.

A sailors forecast.

My father loved to predict the weather. One rule of thumb was if you saw a pasture where the cows were all laying down, that means it will rain soon. Another was to remember this saying:
"Red sky at night, sailor's delight.
Red sky in morning, sailors take warning."
These persimmon colored scarves remind me of those ominous red skies seen at sunrise.
Madder, Cutch and Quebracho Red were used here.

And then there's "Mauve"!

This scarf has taken on almost all shades of pink and lavender and a few specs of purple here and there all melting together... and then there's "mauve"! I think Bea Arthur (who became the feminist TV icon in the "70's)would have rocked this then and now. I timeless accessory- The over sized scarf!

Cristo from my dining room.

These images of my latest escapades in natural dyeing made me think of Cristo's "Gates" in New York City's Central Park. Orders for Spring inventory at Black Parrot in Maine and The One Well in Brooklyn have me slaving over a hot cauldron all day! With a view like this, I can't complain.

Faded Glories.

More silk scarves. This time I used madder and quebracho with alum and cream of tarter. The results were stunning!
